Château Cissac – A Family Legacy in the Heart of the Haut-Médoc
Château Cissac is a historic family estate in the Haut-Médoc, whose story stretches back to 1895. That year, Jacques Mondon acquired the property as a leisure retreat, with winegrowing as a secondary pursuit. His grandson, Louis Vialard, transformed it into a true wine estate in the mid-20th century, establishing the reputation of Château Cissac across borders. He even moved to England to promote the wines, working as a wine merchant and ambassador for Bordeaux excellence.
In 1968, Danielle Vialard joined her father at the château, continuing to develop its renown until 2004. Since 2000, Marie Vialard—representing the new generation—has managed the estate, combining deep respect for family tradition with a modern, environmentally conscious approach to winemaking.
A Timeless Heritage
The current 18th-century chartreuse of Château Cissac stands on the remains of an ancient Roman villa—archaeological traces of which can still be found today. This sense of continuity between past and present defines the spirit of the estate: a perfect balance of heritage, precision, and elegance.
The Wines of Château Cissac
Château Cissac produces classically structured Haut-Médoc wines, known for their balance, aromatic depth, and remarkable ageing potential. Blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot reflect the gravelly soils and Atlantic influence that make this part of Bordeaux so distinctive.
